Christmas Cards

I love getting holiday cards – and it’s so much more fun to get the mail when you have new cards coming in everyday. My kids and I especially love to see pictures from friends and family – especially those who we don’t see often. Every year I sift through the basket of cards at my Dad’s house to get updates on all our family friends and their kids who I’m no longer close too, but it’s still nice to see how they are doing.

Once again this year I’m procrastinating on our cards (going on vacation after Thanksgiving really throws a wrench in the schedule – albeit a fun wrench).

I’ve used Shutterfly for pictures and calendars before, but never cards. I love the photo cards ~ and would love to put one of our cute vacation pictures in our Christmas Card!

My favorites are:

Holiday Dazzle

and

Starlight Trees

Thanks to Shutterfly for offering bloggers 50 free cards this year!

Shutterfly!

Hey, just read another blog that Shutterfly is offering a promotion to bloggers - 50 free holiday cards! Merry Christmas! Woohoo! I haven't used shutterfly for cards before but I have done calendars and plain, old printed photos. I've been very happy with my items in the past. I've drooled over their card selection but haven't purchased cards usually because I've gotten them cheaper elsewhere or plain forgot to send them!

School Updates

The kids are both enjoying school this year - Sam is enjoying 3rd grade and Lucy is enjoying her last year of preschool! In less than a year they will both be at the same school for the first time. I'm looking forward to some free time while they're both in school 5 days a week! We're busier than ever this year and it's been a tough year with some family illnesses but we're trying to stay positive and spending lots of time with our loved ones.

Sailing Camp

Sam is really enjoying sailing this summer. He has completed two weeks of sailing camp and is going to do his first two regattas - his first one will be before he turns 8! Here he is way ahead of his classmates surfing to the dock.

Wedding!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Uncle Adam & Aunt (finally!) Christi's wedding on July 16th. Sam was a ringbearer and Lucy was a flowergirl. After some stubborness on Lucy's part at the rehearsal they both did a wonderful job at the wedding; and they were both so cute! The next day we got to spend some time with Eric's Aunt Faye and Cousin Kelly who came to the wedding - it was nice to finally meet Kelly.

First half of Summer 2010

This is what we've been doing so far this summer

  • 5 batches of strawberry jam in the freezer
  • One new no-training wheels bike rider - WooHoo for Lucy!
  • One new road bike
  • Lots of books read
  • Swimming lessons for Sam - he can swim one lenght of the pool on his own!
  • One super-quick trip to the beach for Eric's work
  • 4th of July with the neighborhood - so glad Lucy isn't super scared of the fireworks this year
  • Sailing camp for Sam
  • Playdates with preschool friends and grade-school classmates
  • Lots of work for Eric -we're hoping he gets a day off soon

We're looking forward to Uncle Adam & Christi's wedding, nature park camps and more fun. We're hoping Eric gets some time off so we can do a vacation. We haven't had a proper vacation in the past 19 months.
